On October 7, China Business News learned that Jing Kun, vice president of Baidu Group and former CEO of Xiaodu Technology, is about to resign due to personal reasons. Effective immediately, Dr. Li Ying, Vice President of Baidu Group and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Baidu Group, will serve as CEO of Xiaodu Technology, reporting directly to Group Chairman and CEO Robin Li. In an internal announcement, Baidu also thanked Jing Kun for his contribution. Regarding his next whereabouts, a reporter from China Business News contacted Jing Kun in the morning but received no response. Jing Kun's departure was relatively sudden. It was originally planned that he would attend Baidu-related forums in October this year, and his speech would include the latest progress in large models, AI native applications, generative AI ecology, etc. Before Baidu, Jing Kun served as chief research and development director at Microsoft China and was responsible for the research and development of Microsoft's Bing search in the Asian market. He joined Baidu in 2014 and served as the chief product architect of Big Search and chairman of the search company's product committee, where he promoted the incubation and implementation of many innovative products such as DuMi. Within Baidu, Jing Kun led the creation and growth of Xiaodu’s business. Xiaodu Technology originated from Baidu's early exploration of intelligent voice technology. It was formerly known as "Dumi", the predecessor of Xiaodu Assistant in September 2015. After Baidu established its smart life business group in March 2018, Jing Kun was appointed The general manager of this business is fully responsible for the products, research and development, operations, sales and commerce of Xiaodu Assistant and Xiaodu series hardware. Xiaodu Assistant (DuerOS) gradually develops the conversational artificial intelligence ecosystem, and thus developed Xiaodu Smart Hardware devices such as Xiaodu smart speakers, headphones, etc.
