About News Minimalist

This minimalist news site uses the GPT-4 to read 1,000 important stories each day and rates them by volume, size, potential and credibility of the source, finally recommending stories with an “importance” of more than 6.

Hi! My name is Vadim.

The problem I have with most news sites is that I can’t read only important news: an article about a virus outbreak is followed by some celebrity gossip or another smartphone release.

But even on sites that focus on important events articles are posted every day and there are always “top headlines” — even on days when nothing important happened.

I am forced to make a choice: waste time going through unimportant updates or ignore the news and miss important events.

So I built a web app that I think solves this.

It uses AI (ChatGPT-4) to read the top 1000 news every day and rank them by significance on a scale from 0 to 10 based on event magnitude, scale, potential, and source credibility.

The results are posted on the main page of newsminimalist.com

I also run a newsletter where I post summaries of all the news with significance over 6.5. On average that’s ~3 news per day, but sometimes it is 5, sometimes 1, and sometimes — none at all. In that case, I just send an email saying that nothing important happened that day.

Very good news website. Pure ChatGPT generated. I expect less bias than main stream websites

The refactoring is now live! Actual performance results are as great as local ones.

Also finally solved the SEO - the summaries and links are still hidden under accordion, but now are part of HTML, so hope to start getting some more traffic from search engines 🤞

I don't think I ever could market News Minimalist as well as my users.

Got about 30 new subscribers from this comment.

Maybe I should stop even trying and focus entirely on features.

Trying to improve summary generation and it's hard as hell. GPT-3.5 (even the new version) completely ignores the details of the prompt.

I asked GPT-4 to be my prompt generator, it tried 15 different prompts until it lost the context, gave up, and made a good summary itself.
